Mary Scheid RN, MSN, OCN® is a native of Colorado and is married with 2 children, Samantha age 13 and Michael age 10. Mary states: "I am lucky enough to still live in the country and have 2 horses, a dozen chickens, 2 dogs and countless cats. I am involved with our local Susan G. Komen for the Cure Affiliate as their education chair, the American Cancer Society board and as their education chair for our local Relay for Life event. I have been an RN for 15 years at North Colorado Medical Center and have worked with oncology patients my entire career. I have found a great deal of fulfillment working my patients. As an oncology nurse, I am always amazed with the strength my patients have, with their will to overcome adversity and their understanding of their bodies own inefficiencies and how they could still have hope while maintaining an understanding of what may happen in the future. I have always had a passion for my patients because of what I have seen them come through. I am dedicated to my patients and want to ease their experience with cancer in anyway I can. I feel by being elected as the coordinator-elect, I can help make a greater difference in the care of all of our patients. Our Breast SIG is doing amazing things to help us be the best breast care nurses and have the best information to help us guide our patients through their care. It is an honor for me to be a part of this organization and I hope to be able to contribute in some small way to this organization and to keep it going strong."
We are excited to have Mary be part of the leadership of our SIG!
